Commitment to Community
As a successful accounting firm in Northern Virginia, helping not-for-profits and supporting our community is extremely important to MCB Principals and the entire staff. We have been successful as a firm for over 70 years and believe in giving back to Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia communities to make a difference.
MCB was a Finalist for the 2019 Greater Washington Good Business Awards. Sponsored by the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce, the awards recognize the leadership of individuals, businesses, and non profits that serve as “champions for good” in the community. Read More
The firm donates more than $10,000 annually in charitable giving through donations and sponsorships in our community. We also sponsor employee volunteer programs and services to benefit our community and the causes we believe in as a firm.
Each year MCB employees select five charitable organizations in our community for the firm to make a $1,000 donation to each on Giving Tuesday. In 2019 donations were made to the following local organizations (as chosen by employees): American Childhood Cancer Organization, Children’s Cause for Cancer Advocacy, Humane Rescue Alliance, National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship, NAMI – Northern Virginia.
Employees are also encouraged to design and develop their own initiatives for giving back to our community. In 2020, during the COVID-19 Pandamic, MCB staff donated 75 meals to Fairfax County and Fairfax City police and fire stations. The meals were donated by Hamrocks Restaurant in Fairfax.
During the 2018 and 2019 holiday season, MCB employees participated in The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree. New clothing and toys for deserving children were collected (employees brought items into the office) and employees gathered to pack the items for the Salvation Army for distribution.
We also cover participation fees for all interested employees in a number of Walk/Run fundraisers throughout the year and offer paid time off for employees who are seeking to volunteer their time. MCB also matches 50 percent of employee contributions to qualified organizations up to $100 per each calendar year.
